Ch 1 at the beginning of the round counts as single crochet.
Ch 3 at the beginning of the round counts as double crochet.
Ch 4 at the beginning of the round counts as treble crochet.

Motif 1
Ch 6. Make a ring with a slip stitch into the first ch.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 11 sc in ring. End with sl st into the first ch. (12 sc)
Rnd 2: (Ch 5, sk next sc, sc in next sc) 6 times.
Rnd 3: (Sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-5 sp, 6 times. (6 petals)
Rnd 4: Hold the petals in front and (sc into the next sc skipped on rnd 1, ch 7) 6 times, sl st into the first ch of beg ch-7.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, 2 dc in next ch-7 sp, (ch 3, tr, ch 3, 3 dc) in same ch-7 sp, [ch 3, sc in next ch-7 sp, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 3, tr, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-7 sp] twice, ch 3, sc in next ch-7 sp, ch 3, sl st into the 3rd ch of beg ch-3.
Rnd 6: Ch 4, tr in each of next 2 dc, 3 tr in next ch-3 sp, [ch 5, 3 tr in next ch-3 sp, tr in each of next 3 dc, (3 tr in next ch-3 sp) twice, tr in each of next 3 dc, 3 tr in next ch-3 sp] twice, ch 5, 3 tr in next ch-3 sp, tr in each of next 3 dc, (3 tr in next ch-3 sp) twice, sl st into the 4th ch.
Rnd 7: Ch 1, sc in each of next 2 tr, ch 3, sc in each of next 3 tr, [(ch 3, 3 sc) twice in next ch-5 sp, (ch 3, sc in each of next 3 tr) 6 times] twice, (ch 3, 3 sc) twice in next ch-5 sp, (ch 3, sc in each of next 3 tr) 4 times, ch 3, sl st into the beg ch-1. Fasten off.
Motif 2 and all other motifs (Make 80)
Work same as motif 1 to rnd 7.
Rnd 7: Ch 1, sc in each of next 2 tr, ch 3, sc in each of next 3 tr, [ch 3, 3 sc in next ch-5 sp, (ch 1, sl st into the corresponding ch-3 sp on the previous motif, ch 1, 3 sc) in next ch-5 sp, (ch 1, sl st into the corresponding ch-3 sp of previous motif, ch 1, sc in each of next 3 tr) 6 times] rep as necessary otherwise work same as rnd 7 of motif 1. Fasten off.
Attach motifs as shown in the diagram until you have 17 triangles on each side.
Finishing
Weave in all ends. Block shawl to size.
Fasten off.
