Hook: US size I/9 (5.5 mm) hook or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions: Tapestry needle, locking stitch marker
Special Stitches
Beg cl (Beginning Cluster): Ch 3, yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops, yo, draw through all 3 loops on hook.
Cl (Cluster): [yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops] twice, yo, draw through all 3 loops on hook.
Pattern Notes
Center section of cowl is worked first back and forth in rows. Short ends are then joined and edging is worked in rnds along each long edge.

Leaving a 12” tail, ch 14.
Row 1 (Right Side): (Cl, ch 3, cl) in 6th ch from hook, *sk next 3 chs, (cl, ch 3, cl) in next ch; rep from * across. (6 cls, 3 ch-3 spaces)
Row 2: Turn, ch 5, (cl, ch 3, cl) in each ch-3 space across. (6 cls, 3 ch-3 spaces)
Rows 3-92: Repeat Row 2. At end of Row 92, place final loop on hook on locking stitch marker for later. Taking care to not twist work, with wrong sides touching using beginning tail and mattress stitch, sew opposite side of foundation row to top of final row.
First Edging
Rnd 1: With RS facing, place loop from stitch marker back on hook, ch 1, sc in next ch-5 loop at end of row; *ch 3, (cl, ch 4, cl) in next ch-5 loop, ch 3, sc in in next ch-5 loop; rep from *, ending join with sl st in beg sc. (23 sc, 46 cl, 23 ch-4 spaces, 46 ch-3 spaces)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same place as joining; *ch 3, ([dc, ch3] twice, dc) in next ch-4 space, ch 3, sc in next sc; rep from *, ending join with sl st in beg sc. (23 sc, 69 dc, 92 ch-3 spaces)
Rnd 3: Sl st in each of next 3 chs, sl st in next dc, sl st in next ch-3 space, (beg cl, ch 1, cl) in same ch-3 space; *ch 1, cl in next dc, ch 1, (cl, ch 1, cl) in next ch-3 space, skip next ch-3 spaces; ch 1, (cl, ch1, cl) in next ch-3 space; from * until 1 ch-3 space remains, skip final ch-3 space, ch 1, join with sc in top of beg cl. (115 cl, 115 ch-1 spaces)
Rnd 4: *Ch 3, sc in next ch-1 space; rep from * until 1 ch-1 space remains, ch 3, join with sl st in final sc of Rnd 3. (115 ch-3 spaces)
Fasten off.
Second Edging
With RS facing, join yarn with sc in any ch-5 loop at the end of rows, starting at * on Rnd 1 continue as for first Edging.
Finishing
With tapestry needle, weave in all yarn ends. Block lightly.

great pattern but I am confused with the instructions for row 3 edging where it say skip two 3 ch spaces it leaves a big gap when I do that
