Finishing
Assembly
- Unravel a 1-yard length of C2 into 3 strands. Unravel each strand into 2 plies. Thread 1 ply through beading needle and knot opposite end. Insert needle from WS to RS through C2 area of sunflower, slide on 1 bead, insert needle from RS to WS. Rep in same manner to randomly sew beads where desired to C2 center.
- Stack plastic canvas circles together matching holes. Insert one end of chenille stem through both circles in any hole of Rnd 17 and opposite end of stem through hole directly below it in Rnd 20, pull stem ends carefully until center of chenille stem is flush with RS of plastic canvas circles.
- Using approx. 25 strands of raffia, form a 14” wide bow and place center of bow between chenille stem ends on WS of plastic canvas circles. Twist chenille stem ends tightly to secure center of bow to plastic canvas. Twist remaining length of stem ends together to form hanging lp. Adjust raffia lps and trim length of bow ends as desired.
- Place sunflower on flat surface with WS facing. Center RS of plastic canvas circles on sunflower. Separate 1 strand gold into 3 plies and use 1 ply and large eye tapestry needle to whipstitch back loops of skipped sts of rnd 19 to outer edge of plastic canvas circles.
Weave in any rem ends.

Enjoy! – Nicola
And no repeats? I’ve been back to the first issue and have noticed repeats of shawls, cowls, cardigans, ruanas, etc.
Hi Elizabeth, two issues per year are called Editor’s Editions, where we curate our favorites from our archives into larger magazine issues. Since our launch in 2014, we have many, many patterns that people do not know about so we try to highlight our archives in these editions. The other 4 issues for the year are brand-new, never-before-published patterns. We do our best to have a variety of new designs. I hope that answers your question, please let me know if I can clarify anything else. – Nicola, Editor
This doesn’t say anything about attaching the plastic canvas circle to the back of the sunflower. Looking at the picture it looks like it is just stitched on but if for some reason the picture is not there it would just be nice to have the finishing steps printed in the directions.
Hi Dana! We’ve reached out to the designer for clarification and she or I will reply as soon as possible. Thanks! – Nicola
Thanks Dana, for your feedback. You are absolutely correct! The final line of the finishing instructions was missing! We’ve updated the pattern above and here it is as well:
4. Place sunflower on flat surface with WS facing. Center RS of plastic canvas circles on sunflower. Separate 1 strand gold into 3 plies and use 1 ply and large eye tapestry needle to whipstitch back loops of skipped sts of rnd 19 to outer edge of plastic canvas circles.
Thank you, and happy crocheting! – Nicola
