This vintage drop stitch hat and gloves set is a great addition to any outerwear collection. The drop stitch pattern and alternating colors give this set a woven appearance, and the warm fingerless mitts can be worn inside to keep your hands warm.

Yarn: Vanna’s Choice (100% acrylic; 170 yards [156 meters]/100 grams): Beige (Color A, 1 skein), Green (Color B, 1 skein), Taupe (Color C, 1 skein)
Hook: US size F/5 (3.75 mm) hook or size to obtain gauge

Pattern Notes
The gloves are made by from the wrist to fingers.
The slouchy hat is made brim to top.
To complete the drop stitch, locate the stitch 2 rows below current row, insert hook into that stitch and yarn over, pull back through, yarn over and pull through loops to complete. The stitch will appear to ‘drop’ down into the other row.

Using Color A, ch 28.
Rnd 1: Turn, sc 27, sl st to first stitch to join. (27 sts)
Rnds 2-4: Ch 1, sc in each stitch, sl st to first stitch to join. (27 sts)
Rnd 5: Join Color B, drop Color A, ch 1, * sc 2, drop stitch (see notes), repeat from * to complete row, sl st to first stitch to join.
Row 6: Ch 1, sc in each stitch, sl st to first stitch to join.
Row 7: Pick up Color A, fasten off Color B, ch 1, sc, drop stitch, *sc 2, drop stitch, repeat from * until 1 stitch remains, sc to complete, sl st to first stitch to join.
Row 8: Ch 1, sc in each stitch, sl st to first stitch to join.
Row 9: Join Color C, drop Color A, ch 1, * sc 2, drop stitch, repeat from * to complete row, sl st to first stitch to join.
Row 10: Ch 1, sc in each stitch, sl st to first stitch to join.
Row 11: Pick up Color A, fasten off Color C, ch 1, sc, drop stitch, *sc 2, drop stitch, repeat from * until 1 stitch remains, sc to complete, sl st to first stitch to join.
Row 12: Ch 1, sc in each stitch, sl st to first stitch to join.
Rows 13-14: Using Color A, repeat Rows 5-6.
Rows 15-16: Using Color B, repeat Rows 7-8.

Rows 25: Using Color C, sc 10, sc, drop stitch, *sc 2, drop stitch, repeat from * to complete row, sl st to first stitch to join.
Row 26: Ch 1, sc in each stitch, sl st to first stitch to join.
Rows 27-28: Using Color A, repeat Rows 7-8.
Rows 29-30: Using color B, repeat Rows 5-6.
Rows 31: Using Color A, repeat Row 7.
Rows 32-34: Ch 1, sc in each stitch, sl st to first stitch to join.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Slouchy Hat Brim
Using Color A, ch 7.
Row 1: Turn, sc in each chain. (6 sts)
Rows 2-66: Turn, ch 1, working in back loop only, sc in each stitch. (6 sts)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
Using yarn needle, sew edges together.
Slouchy Hat Top
Row 1: Join Color A at seam, using ends of rows as stitches, sc in each stitch. (66 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each stitch.
Row 3: Join Color B, drop Color A, ch 1, * sc 2, drop stitch, repeat from * to complete row, sl st to first stitch to join.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each stitch.
Row 5: Pick up Color A, fasten off Color B, ch 1, sc, drop stitch, *sc 2, drop stitch, repeat from * until 1 stitch remains, sc to complete, sl st to first stitch to join.
