Pattern Notes

Stocking is worked from cuff towards toe.

The heel is worked over 20 sts. The remaining 20 sts are the leg sts. You will work on the leg sts later.

In Row 4 of heel, you will work across 8 sts, then sc into the next sc of the row below (this is one of the 6 sts left unworked in Rows 2 and 3). This will add one st to the heel for a total of 9 sts for the heel.

Pattern

Cuff

With A and larger hook, ch 50, taking care not to twist ch, join with sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch across, join with sl st to first sc. (50 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, join with sl st to first sc. (50 sc)

Rep Rnd 2 until piece meas 3” from beg.

Do not fasten off.

Leg

Switch to B and smaller hook.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, hdc in each st across, join with sl st to first hdc. (50 hdc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, join with sl st to first sc. (50 sc)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, hdc in each st across, join with sl st to first hdc. (50 hdc)

Switch to C.

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in each st across, join with sl st to first sc. (50 sc)

Heel

Cont with C.

Row 1: Ch 1, sc in first 20 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, turn. (20 sc)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first 8 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, turn. (8 sc)

Switch to B.

Next Rnd: Ch 1, hdc2tog in corner where Leg meets Heel, hdc in each st across Heel to next corner, hdc2tog in next corner, hdc in each st across, join with sl st to first st. (46 hdc)

Next Rnd: Ch 1, sc2tog in corner where Leg meets Heel, sc in each st across Heel to next corner, sc2tog in next corner, sc in each st across, join with sl st to first st. (44 sc)

Switch to C.

Next Rnd: Ch 1, sc in each st across, join with sl st to first sc. (44 sc)

Rep Rnds 1-4 of Leg once, then Rnds 1-3 once more.

Toe

Switch to C.

Turn stocking inside out.

To close the toe, weave the tail in and out of each st using a tapestry needle.

Once you go all the way around, pull tail and toe should shut close.

Fasten off. Weave in all ends.
