It wouldn’t be winter without your favorite cup of coffee, and there’s always a reason to crochet a cozy for your travel cup! So, enjoy that caffeine and get to work crocheting this winter-themed cozy. Your barista may even ask you where you got it (hint, make her one too!).

Pattern Notes
The beginning chain of each row does not count as a stitch.
Begin each row in the first stitch of the row.
I recommend marking the first stitch for the rows that begin with a slip stitch, as it’s easy to miss on the return row.

Ch 16.
Row 1 (RS): Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 2 chs, *hdc in next 3 chs, sl st in next 3 chs; rep from * to end, turn – 15 sts.
Work in back loops only for the remainder of the pattern.
Row 2 (WS): Ch 1, sl st in first 3 sts, *hdc in next 3 sts, sl st in next 3 sts; rep from * to end, turn – 15 sts.

Rows 9-28: Rep Rows 5-8.
The entire piece should measure 7-7½” in length.
Finishing
Seaming
With RS facing out, bring the ends of your work together and slip stitch through the backloops only of Row 28 and the corresponding stitches on the foundation chain.
Weave in all ends. Attach buttons if desired.
Where can I find very detailed instructions for sl st and hdc? I’m getting back into crochet after decades and just don’t remember.
Hi Cindy! This page may be helpful: https://www.ilikecrochet.com/daily/beginner-crochet/tips-tutorials-and-abbreviations/crochet-abbreviations-and-special-stitches/

So how many stitches across should there be? I did 14 & that’s not even close to being enough.
Hi Christina, since this pattern is seamed at the end, you start with chaining 16 and then complete 28 rows of the pattern above. The first chain will not be the circumference of the coffee cozy. I hope that makes sense! – Nicola, Editor
Could you provide the pattern instructions, as to when to change each color, to include the 3 colors?
Hi Maegan! I think the yarn has now been updated to indicate that the version with 3 colors is an variegated yarn. Hope that helps! – Nicola, Editor
Thank you
