Edwardian Lace Tee

Downton Abbey heroines aren’t the only ones who can wear lace! Shades of Irish crochet appear in the motif and also in the picot pattern used at the sides and shoulders in this design. Layer it over a tee for casual wear, or over a black tank for a dressier look.

Materials

Yarn: Cascade Heritage Silk (85% merino, 15% silk; 437 yards [400 meters]/100 grams): #5682 White [2 (2, 2, 3, 3) balls]
Hook: US size D/3 (3.25 mm) hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Special Stitches

Picot: Ch 3, work sl st inserting hook in FL and one strand from side of sc at base of ch 3.

Pattern Notes

Connecting Motifs: Motifs are joined with slip stitches worked either into corners or into the center picot at the sides of motifs. Every group of 4 motifs connects at a center point, forming a sort of wheel. Always join 3 of the motifs to the same ch-5 sp at the corner of the 4th. Small and Med have 4 motifs across, Small has one row at sides, Med has 5 rows at sides.
Large and 1X have 5 motifs across, large has one row at sides, 1X has 5 rows at sides.
2X has 6 motifs across and one row at sides.

Pattern

First Motif

Make adjustable ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 8 (counts as dc and ch 5), (dc, ch-5) 3 times in ring, sl st to top of 3rd ch.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, [( sc, ch 3, 7 dc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-5 sp] 4 times, sl st to top of first sc, (sl st in next ch of starting ch 3) twice.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in top of ch 3, *ch 9, sk 7 dc, sc in top of next ch 3, ch 3, sc in top of next ch 3**, rep from * 4 times ending last rep at **, sl st to top of first sc, sl st to first ch of ch-9.
Rnd 4: (Ch 3, dc2tog) in ch-9 space (counts as dc3tog) ch 3, (dc3tog, ch 3) 5 times in same ch-9 sp, *sc in ch-3 sp, ch 3, (dc3tog, ch 3) 6 times in next ch-9 sp, rep from * 3 times, sc in ch-3 sp, ch 3, sl st to top of dc2tog, sl st to next ch-3 sp.
