Ivanna Chevron Sweater

Ivanna is the bold sweater that’s sure to make a statement this season. This almost abstract representation of a chevron fabric with one solid V motif is an eye-catcher, while the unique and clever construction of the front panel is likely to engage both intermediate and expert crocheters alike.

2” positive ease recommended.

Gauge: 14 sts and 16 rows = 4” [10 cm] in sc after wet blocking

Medium weight yarnYarn: Paintbox Wool Worsted (100% superwash wool; 218 yards [200 meters]/100 grams): Vanilla Cream (MC, 3 (3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5) balls), Blood Orange (CC1, 3 (3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5) balls), Bubblegum Pink (CC2, 3 (3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5) balls)

Hook: US size I/9 (5.5 mm)

Garment is worked in pieces and seamed. Only front has chevron design and is worked from the top down. For this sample, colors were changed every 6 rows but you may make stripes larger or smaller (required yarn amounts for colors may change in that case).

Front color striping sequence: MC, CC1, CC2.

Sleeves and back color striping sequence: CC1, CC2, MC.

Rows 2-88 (92, 96, 100, 104, 108, 108, 108): Ch 1, sc across, turn.

Fasten off.

Sleeve (Make 2)

With CC1, ch 71 (71, 77, 77, 85, 85, 91, 91).

Change color every 6 rows following sleeves and back color striping sequence.

Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch across, turn. (70 (70, 76, 76, 84, 84, 90, 90) sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc across, turn.

Dec Row: Ch 1, sc in first st, sc2tog, sc across to last 3 sts, sc2tog, sc in last st, turn. (2 sts decreased)

Rep Dec Row every 3rd row 15 (15, 19, 19, 23, 23, 25, 25) times, then every 2nd row 6 (6, 4, 4, 3, 3, 3, 3) times. (26 (26, 28, 28, 30, 30, 32, 32) sc)

Fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in all ends and block to finished measurements before seaming. Sew all seams using locking mattress stitch or your preferred joining method. Sew shoulder seams. Sew sleeves to body panels. Sew sleeves and side seams. Weave in all ends.

      Hey Joanna! Unfortunately, I don’t have a video tutorial for this project. The 23( 21, 20, 19, 18, 17, 13, 8) rows after row 24 on the front panel shaping are worked as a pointed chevron shape, you will be starting with a decrease, then working straight single crochets along the first side of the point, working increases on the bottom middle point, working straight single crochets along the second side, then decreasing in the last two stitches of the row.
