The Peony Bouquet Shawlette is fresh and springy, crocheted in lightweight, cool cotton. An easy-to-crochet v-stitch triangle creates a beautiful, modern drape and two delicate shell buttons help to keep the shawlette in place.

Hook: US size G/6 (4.0 mm) hook

Notions: Tapestry needle, scissors, 2 buttons (about 0.5 to 1” wide)

Pattern Notes

Shawlette is worked from the bottom up in a v-stitch and finished with a simple scallop edging along the top edge. Two delicate buttons are sewn on for adjustability and to help keep the shawlette in place. The shawl is styled by wearing the buttoned part on the shoulder and allowing it to drape across the other shoulder and down the front, but it can be worn many other ways too!

Pattern

Ch 7.
Foundation Row: In 4th ch from hook, (dc, ch 1, dc) all in the same ch, V-st made, sk next 2 chs, and in the next ch (the last chain), work (dc, ch 1, dc) all in the same ch.
Row 1: Ch 3, turn. Work (dc, ch 1, dc) in each ch-1 sp from the previous row. At the end of the row, finish with (dc, ch 1, dc) in the last sp (ch 3 turning sp).
Rep Row 1 until top edge measure approximately 40” across.
Edging Row (Last Row): Ch 3, turn. In the first V-st work 2 dc, *work a sl st in the sp before the next V-st, work 3 dc in the next V-st; rep from * to end of row, work a sl st in the t-ch sp.

Finishing

Weave in any ends and block if desired (example is shown wet blocked).  Sew two buttons to the upper left corner of the triangle, 2.5” apart.
