What would be the number of chain stitches to add width to the “Cedar Wrap” pattern?

What is the weight of this yarn? Wish you would/could suggest alternatives that are more familiar.

What am I doing wrong on this. I have way too many stitches. Am I do to the Dc2tog twice each time? Is there a tutorial on this particular wrap?

    • It says dc2tog over next 2 st that decreases one st. Then you do 2 dc in next bringing it back to same amount. I find if I do each stitch without reading ahead I do better till learn pattern. Over the next 2 st does not mean do it 2 times. So it should work out correct. Hope this is helpful in some way.
