Lemon Star Lace Doily

Materials

Super fine weight yarn

Yarn:  Aunt Lydia’s Fashion 3 (100 % cotton), 2.5 oz/150 yds/70.9g per ball. Weight (1) Super Fine, 1 ball of each color:  #0423 Maize (CC1), #1040 Soft Mauve (CC2), #0226 Natural (CC3)

Hook:  US Size F/5/3.75 mm

Notions:   Scissors, Tapestry needle, pins, blocking board

Special Stitches

Front Post (fp): Insert hook from front to back to front around post of st on previous round and complete st as designated.

Beginning 3-double cluster (beg 3 dc- cl): Ch 3, (yo, insert hook in designated st or sp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook) 2 times, yo, and draw through 3 loops on hook.

3-double cluster (3 dc-cl): (Yo, insert hook in designated sp, yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook) 3 times, yo, draw through all 4 lps on hook.

Beginning 3 treble cluster (beg 3 tr-cl): Ch 4, *yo hook twice, insert hook in designated st or sp, yo, draw up a lp, (yo, draw though 2 lps on hook) twice, rep from * once, yo, draw through all 3 lps on hook.

3 treble cluster (3 tr-cl): *Yo hook twice, insert hook in designated st or sp, yo, draw up a lp, (yo, draw through 2 lps on hook) twice, rep from * once, yo, draw though all 3 lps on hook.

With CC1 ch 6.

Round 1:  Join in 1st ch to form ring, ch 1, 8 sc in ring, sl st in 1st sc to join. (8 sc)

Round 2:  Ch 4 (counts as 1st tr), 2 tr in same place as joining, ch 3, *3 tr in next sc, ch 3, repeat from * 6 more times, join on top of 1st tr. (24 tr)

Round 3:  Work FP beg 3 tr-cl over first 3 sts, ch 5, *sc in next ch-sp, ch 5, 3 FP tr-cl around next 3 tr, ch 5, repeat from * 6 more times, sc in next ch-sp, ch 5, join in beg cl. (8 3 FP tr-cl, 16 ch-5 sps)

Fasten off CC1.

Round 4:  With CC2, join with sl st in 1st ch-5 after fastening off CC1, ch 1, sc in same place, *ch 5, dc in next st, (ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp) twice, repeat from * around, join in 1st sc. (24 ch-5 sps, 8 dc, 16 sc)

Round 5: Ch 2, sc in next ch-5 sp, *ch 2, 3 tr in next dc, ch 2, sc in next ch-5 sp, ch 6, skip next ch-5 sp, sc in next sp, repeat from *around, join in 1st sc. (24 tr)

Round 6:  Ch 1, sc in same place, ch 5, *work 3 FP tr-cl around next 3 tr, ch 5, sc in ch-2 sp, ch 5, sc in next ch-2 sp, ch 5, skip next ch-sp rep from * around, join on top of 1st 3 tr-cl. (8 3 FP tr-cl)

Round 7: Ch 1, sc in same place, ch 10, *catching all 3 ch-sps from last 3 rounds work tr, ch 10, sc on top of 3 tr-cl, ch 10, rep from * around, join with sl st in 1st sc. (16 ch-10 sps, 8 tr)

Fasten off CC2

Round 8: With CC2, join with sl st in any tr, ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 4 (count as 1st tr), 2 tr in same place, ch 5, *(sc in next ch-sp, ch 5) twice, 3 tr in next tr, ch 5, rep from * around, join on top of beg ch-4. (24 tr, 24 ch-5 sps)

Round 9: Ch 1, FPsc around 1st tr, ch 4, FP 2-tr-cl in next 2 tr, *(ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp) 3 times, ch 5, FP 3 tr-cl around next 3 tr, rep from * around, join on top of 1st 3 tr-cl.  (8 3 FP tr-cl)

Fasten off CC2

Round 10:  With CC3, join with sl st in any ch-5, ch 1, sc in same sp, (ch 6, sc next ch-5 sp) 31 times, ch 2, tr in 1st sc to form last ch 6. (32 ch-6 sps)

Round 11: Ch 1, sc in same place, (ch 7, sc in next ch-sp) 31 times, ch 3, tr in 1st sc to form last ch 7.

Round 12:  Ch 1, sc in same place, (ch 8, sc in next ch-sp) 31 times, ch 4, dtr in 1st sc to form last ch 8.

Round 13:  Ch 1, sc in same place, (ch 9, sc in next ch-sp) 31 times, ch 5, tr in 1st sc to form last ch 9.

Round 14: Ch 1, sc in same place, (ch 10, sc in next ch-sp) 31 times, ch 6, tr in 1st sc to form last ch 10.

Round 15: Ch 1, sc in same place, (ch 11, sc in next ch-sp) 31 times, ch 11, sl st to 1st sc.

Fasten off CC3

Round 16: With CC2, join with sl st in any sc of Round 15, ch 1, sc in same place, *FP beg 3 dc-cl, ch 3, sl st in 2 bottom loops on top 1st 3 dc-cl, FP dc-cl in same place, sc in next ch-sp, ch 3, rep from * around, sl st in 1st sc.  (128 3 dc-cl)

Fasten off CC2

Round 17:  With CC1, sl st in 1st sc between next 2 3 dc-cl, ch 1, sc in same place, *FP beg 3 dc-cl in same place, (ch 3, sl st in 2 bottom loops on top of 1st 3 dc-cl, 3 FP dc-cl in same place) 2 more times, skip next 4 3 dc-cl, sc in next sc, rep from * around, join in 1st sc.  (128 3 dc-cl)

Fasten off CC2

Finishing

With Tapestry needle, weave in all ends. Block to measurement.
