Wind River Rug

This rug will add bohemian southwestern style for your living room or bedroom in five earthy colors. This unique, reversible rug is made from eco-friendly 100% recycled fiber yarn, which is created from leftovers of the fashion industry. Worked in tapestry crochet or graphghan style, each section of color is worked from a small ball or bobbin of yarn. This is just what your home has been asking for this season!

Time:  One Week Project

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: 33” tall x 45” wide / [84 cm tall x 114 cm wide]

Gauge: 9.5 sts and 10 rows = 4” [10 cm] in sc after wet blocking

Materials

Yarn: Hoooked RibbonXL (80% recycled cotton, 20% recycled other fibers; 131 yards [120 meters]/250 grams): RXL31 Stone Gray (MC, 3 balls), RXL33 Sandy Ecru (CC1, 2 balls), RXLSP8 Riverside Jeans (CC2, 2 balls), RXL43 Caramel Brown (CC3, 1 ball), RXL53 Harvest Ochre (CC4, 1 ball)

Hook/Needles: US size K/10.5 (6.5 mm)

Pattern Notes

To change colors, work in old color up to last yarn over then yarn over with the new color to complete the stitch.

I love this rug. Is there any chance that you will ever do a tutorial. I’m a beginner but have done a few intermediate. Watching the color change would be a big help.

From the designer: There is a detailed photo tutorial for the Wind River Rug in my book Crochet Southwest Spirit: Over 20 Bohemian Patterns Inspired by the American Southwest. I have not made a video tutorial for this pattern/technique but I hope to someday!

In the meantime, you might find this intarsia crochet tutorial by Hobbycraft on YouTube to be helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPQ76JwKogM. The color changes for the rug are worked in the same way.
