Pattern

Ch 24.

Row 1: Working in BL, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each st across to end, turn. (23 sts)

Row 2: Ch 2, dc in next 7 sts, ch 7, sk next 7 sts, dc in last 8 sts, turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in the same st as beg ch-1, sc in each st and ch across, turn

Rows 4-51: Rep Rows 2-3 for patt.

Row 52: Rep Row 2. Do not fasten off.

Making Up

You should have created a long strip of fabric with a section that looks like a ladder.

When you’re ready to create the Jacobs Ladder stitch, begin at the bottom row.

1. Twist the chain over itself so that the right side crosses over the left and closes the first stitch.
2. Next pull up the loop from Row 2 and pull it through the loop creating the “chained” stitch in your ladder.
   
3. Continue moving up, row by row, until you have pulled each chain through the ladder.
4. Ch 1, work sc in next 7 sts, sl st in top of ch of ladder to secure, sc in rem 8 sts.
5. Fasten off, but leave a long yarn tail for the seam.

Finishing

Line up both ends of the cowl and, with RS facing, whipstitch together.

Weave in any rem ends.
