Capri Skirt

This bold skirt is made all in one piece for a seamless effect. The possibilities are endless with this skirt pattern in terms of colors and styling.

Skill Level: Easy

Size: Finished Waist Size 26 (30, 34, 38, 42)”, Finished Length 21 (21, 21.5, 22, 22)”

Note: Skirt waist band is very stretchy.

Gauge: 13 sts and 11 rnds = 4” [10 cm] in St st after wet blocking

Materials

Yarn: Stylecraft Special Double Knit (100% Scrylic; 322 yards [295 meters]/100 grams): 1003 Aster (A, 3 (3, 4, 5, 5) balls), 1241 Fondant (B, 1 (1, 1, 2, 2) balls), 1263 Citron (C, 1 (1, 1, 2, 2), 1001 White (D, 1 (1, 2, 2, 2), 1256 Jaffa (E, 1 (2, 2, 3, 3)

Hook: US size F/5 (3.75 mm)

Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, 2 yards of 2” wide elastic for waistband (optional), sewing needle and thread (if using elastic)

Fpdc: front post double crochet

Special Stitches

V-st (v-stitch): (Dc, ch 1, dc) in st indicated.

Dv-st (double v-stitch): (Dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) in st indicated.

Crab st (right-handed): Insert hook in the st to the right and work a regular sc.

Crab st (left-handed): Insert hook in the st to the left and work a regular sc.

Pattern Notes

This pattern is worked top down in rows for the waistband and in rounds for the skirt.

Waistband

With A, ch 19.
Row 1 (RS): Working in back bump of ch, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. (18 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sl st in same st and each st across. (18 sl st)
Note: Be careful not to work your sl sts too tightly. Place a stitch marker in both loops of last sl st to help you know where to start your next row.

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in same st, sc in each st across. (18 sc)
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sl st in same st, sl st in each st across. (18 sl st)
Rep Rows 3-4 until Waistband meas 25 (29, 33, 37, 41)”, ending on Row 3, do not fasten off.

Joining Row: With wrong sides touching and working in blo at end of Row 1 and blo of last row, sl st across to join the ends to form a circle. (18 sl st)
Do not fasten off.

Skirt

Rnd 1: Cont with A, working in ends of rows of Waistband with RS facing, ch 1, sc in same st, work 95 (107, 119, 131, 143) sc evenly around Waistband, join with sl st in first sc. (96 (108, 120, 132, 144) sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, v-st in next st, *dc in next st, v-st in next st; rep from * around, join with sl st in first ch-3. (48 (54, 60, 66, 72) dc; 48 (54, 60, 66, 72) v-st)

Rnd 3: Ch 3 (does not count as a dc here and throughout rest of patt), turn, fpdc around ch 3 from Rnd 2, v-st in next ch-1 sp, *fpdc around next dc, v-st in next ch-1 sp in next st; rep from * around, join with sl st in first dc. (48 (54, 60, 66, 72) dc; 48 (54, 60, 66, 72) v-st)

Note: If you would like a longer Skirt, rep Rnd 44 (44, 45, 46, 46) until desired length is reached, then go to Rnd 50 (50, 51, 52, 52).

Rnd 50 (50, 51, 52, 52): Ch 1, work Crab St around by working in each dc and skipping the ch-1 sp. Fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in all loose ends.

If needed for extra stability, you can sew the 2” elastic on the wrong side of the waist band, being careful to hide your stitches.

A gentle block is recommended.
