Sorbet Stripes Boxy Tee

This comfortable, no-shaping tee is designed to be cropped, but you can effortlessly customize the length to your preference. Ideal for a stash-buster project, have fun experimenting with vibrant stripes. Picture yourself strolling around on a breezy evening in this versatile piece. Sizes written as XS (S, M, L, XL) (2X, 3X, 4X, 5X): Finished Bust Size 34 (38, 42, 46, 50) (54, 58, 62, 66)” to fit bust 30 (34, 38, 42, 46) (50, 54, 58, 62)”

4” positive ease recommended.  If between sizes, choose smaller size.

Shown in size S 38” finished bust.

Gauge: 16 sts and 8 rows = 4” [10 cm] in dc st after wet blocking

Materials

Light weight yarnYarn: Drops Cotton Light (50% cotton, 50% polyester; 115 yards [105 meters] / 1.76 ounces [50 grams]): 02 White (MC 5 (5, 6, 6, 7) (7, 7, 7, 7) balls), 38 Wild Orchid (CC1 1 (1, 1, 1, 2) (2, 2, 2, 2) balls), 39 Spring Green (CC2 1 (1, 1, 1, 2) (2, 2, 2, 2) balls), 25 Light Lilac (CC3 1 (1, 1, 1, 1) (2, 2, 2, 2) balls)

Hook: US size 7/4.5 mm or hook to achieve gauge

Notions: Removable markers, tapestry needle, tape measurement

Pattern Notes

  1. Pattern worked from the bottom-up.
  2. Starting chain DOES NOT count as stitch.
  3. TURN at the end of each row or round unless state otherwise.
  4. Front and back panels worked flat and seamed on shoulders and sides.
  5. Sleeves will be crocheted directly in rounds, joined, and turned.
  6. This pattern uses US crochet terms.
  7. Alternate CC1, CC2 and CC3 accordingly.

Make 2

Foundation Row (RS)

In MC, Ch 71 (79, 87, 95, 103) (111, 119, 127, 135),

Row 1: Dc in the back bump of third ch from hook, dc in each st until the end, change to CC. (69 (77, 85, 93, 101) (109, 117, 125, 133) sts)

Row 2 (WS): Ch 1 (not count as st from here and throughout), sc in first st, *dc in next st, sc in next st*, repeat from * to * until end.

Row 3 (RS): Ch 2 (not count as st from here and throughout), dc in first st, *sc in next st, dc in next st*, repeat from* to * until the end.  Break yarn.  Change to MC.

Row 4 – 6: Ch2, dc in first st, dc in each st across.

Row 7: Ch 2, dc in first st, dc in each st across, Change to CC.

Row 8 – 31 (31, 37, 37, 43) (43, 43, 49, 49): Repeat Rows 2-7 another 4 (4, 5, 5, 6) (6, 6, 7, 7) more times, then repeat Rows 2-4 one more time. Do not fasten off and proceed to Neckline Section.

Neckline Section

Sizes XS (S, M, L, XL) (-, -, -, -) only

Row 1 (RS): Ch 2, dc in next 14 (18, 22, 26, 30) (-, -, -, -) sts, hdc in the next 10 sts, sc in the next 21 sts, hdc in the next 10 sts and dc in the remaining sts. (69 (77, 85, 93, 101) (109, 117, 125, 133) sts)

Row 2 – 3: Repeat Row 1.

Sizes – (-, -, -, -) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL) only

Row 1 (RS): Ch2, dc in next – (-, -, -, -) (30, 34, 38, 42) sts, hdc in the next 13 sts, sc in the next 23 sts, hdc in the next 13 sts and dc in the remaining sts. (69 (77, 85, 93, 101) (109, 117, 125, 133) sts)

Row 2 – 3: Repeat Row 1.

Fasten off.

Assembly

Tips: Block panels before seaming (if needed)

Whip st the shoulders together around the dc sts or in 14 (18, 22, 26, 30) (30, 34, 38, 42) sts.

Lay flat.  Measure down approximately 7.5 (8, 8.5, 9, 9.5) (10, 10.5, 11, 11.5)” from the shoulder seam.  (Tips: add length if you have bigger arm or for a roomier sleeves). PM on left and right of both panels.  Fold, make sure the wrong sides are facing you and whip st the sides of the body panel together.

Sleeves

Repeat on both sides.

Round 1 (RS): Place MC in between 2 sts in underarm. Ch 2, dc in the first st, dc around row ends in odd numbers (suggestion: 1dc in row start with sc and 2dc in row start with dc), join with sl st into first st. Turn at end of each round, see Notes.

Round 2 – 4: Ch 2, dc in each st around, join with sl st into first st.  Change to CC.

Round 5 (RS): Ch 1, sc in first st, *dc in next st, sc in next st*, repeat from * to * until end, join with sl st into first st.

Round 6 (WS): Ch 2, dc in first st, *sc in next st, dc in next st*, repeat from * to * until end, join with sl st into first st

Round 7 (RS): Ch 2, dc in each st around, join with sl st into first st. DO NOT turn.

Round 8 (RS): Ch 1, sl st in each st around.

Fasten off.

Finishing

With RS facing you, place any CC yarn at the shoulder seam.

Ch 1, sc around the neckline section. Do not join. Sl st in each st across. Sl st in the first st.

Fasten off.

Weave in all ends and block your tee to the measurements.
