Tking lps off hook (Tunisian crochet backward pass): Yo, draw through 1 lp on hook, (yo, draw through 2 lps on hook) across remainder of row. Last lp on hook counts as first st of next row
Pattern Notes
A main lace rectangular panel is worked flat, a bottom edge is worked along one long side in a mix of traditional and tunisian crochet, then stitches are worked along the other long side in the round to create the poncho’s yoke.
Ch 3 at beginning of any row counts as dc unless otherwise indicated.
The last lp on hook of each tunisian row backward pass acts as the first st in the next row’s forward pass.
Changes for sizes in parentheses, if none, directions written are for all sizes.
Wet blocking upon completion is integral to fully open poncho’s main lace section.
Pattern
With smallest hook, ch 38.
Row 1 (RS): *2 Dcv in 4th ch from hook, sk 2 ch, sclp in next ch; rep from * across, ending with dc in final ch, turn – (6 2-dcv, 6 sclp, 2 dc).
Row 2 (WS): Ch 3, *sclp in next ch-1 sp, 2 dcv in next ch-3 sp; rep from * across, ending with dc in top of initial ch-3, turn.
Row 3: Ch 3, *2 dcv in next ch-3 sp, sclp in next ch-1 sp; rep from * across, ending with dc in top of ch-3, turn.
Rows 2-3 form main lace pattern.
Rep Rows 2-3, 41 (48, 54) times, then Row 2 once more – 86 (100, 112) rows.
Fasten off.
Bottom Edging
Row 1 (RS): With larger hook and RS of rectangle facing, and long side of rectangle as working surface, attach yarn with sl st at beg corner of Row 1, ch 1 (counts as first sc), work 170 (198, 222) sc evenly spaced across length of rectangle, turn – 171 (199, 223) sc.

This is a lovely pattern and I am working through the first part. Unfortunately it is unclear and actually incorrect as written.
In Row 1 the repeat should not include “4th ch from hook” as this only applies to the first stitch. As written, it doesn’t include the necessary “sk 2 ch” after the sclp.
In Row 2 the pattern should begin with the 2 dcv because you end the row before with the sclp and thus have the ch-3 sp. Therefore Row 2 and 3 are identical and you would simply repeat Row 2 for the 86 (100, 112) rows.
I am hopeful that the Tunisian sections are written correctly.
Hello Wendy! I’ve reached out to the designer for advice and she or I will reply as soon as possible. Thanks! – Nicola, Editor
What did the designer say after you reached out to her? I notice that there are times I Like Crochet says this but then never comes back with a response.
Hi there, sometimes on older patterns, designers are no longer able to help which is unfortunate. I would suggest leaving a comment on Ravelry and see if other users can assist: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/Deniseworld/seasonal-mist-poncho
