Medium weight yarnYarn: Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice (100% acrylic; 170 yards [155 meters]/100 grams): # 141 Wildberry (A, 1 ball), #144 Magenta (B, 1 ball), #143 Antique Rose (C, 1 ball), #142 Rose (D, 1 ball), #140 Dusty Rose (E, 1 ball), #101 Pink (F, 1 ball), #149 Silver Grey (G, 2 balls)
Hook: US size J/10 (6.0 mm) hook or size to obtain gauge

Pattern

With (A) ch 8. Make a ring with a sl st into the first ch.
Row 1: Ch 4 (count as dc, ch 1), (dc, ch 1) in ring twice, dc in ring, ch 3, (dc, ch 1) in ring 3 times, dc in ring. Turn. (8 dc)
Row 2: With (G) ch 2 (count as sc, ch 1), 2 sc in same ch-sp, (ch 1, sc in next ch-sp) twice, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-3-sp, (ch 1, sc) in next ch-sp 3 times, ch 1, sc in same ch-sp. Turn.
Row 3: With (B), ch 4 (count as dc, ch 1), dc in same ch-sp, (ch 1, dc in next ch-1-sp) to the ch-3-sp, ch 1, (dc, ch 3, dc) in ch-3-sp, (ch 1, dc) to end of row, (dc, ch 1, dc) in last ch-1-sp. Turn.
Row 4: With (G) ch 2 (count as sc, ch 1), sc in same ch-1-sp, (ch 1, sc) in next ch-1-sp until you reach the ch-3-sp, (ch 1, sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-3-sp, (ch 1, sc) in next ch-1-sp, end with ch 1, sc in same ch-1-sp. Turn.
Rows 5-12: Repeat rows 3-4, Switching yarn for row 3 with (C), (D), (E), and (F) respectively and working row 4 with (G) all the time.
Rows 13-35: Work rows 3-4 twice, changing color on row 3 and working row 4 with (G).
Note: For the third repeat do not work the last row 4.
Row 36: With (G) [ch 3, sc in next ch1-sp] repeat between [ ] to ch-3-sp. Sc in ch-3-sp, ch 3 (Mark ch 3), sc in same ch-3-sp, [ch 3, sc in next ch1-sp] repeat between [ ] to end. Turn.
Row 37: With (A) ch 3, 4 dc in same ch-3-sp, [skip next ch-3-sp, 5 dc in next ch-sp] repeat between [ ] to the marked ch-3-sp, 5 dc in marked ch-3-sp, 5 dc in next ch-3-sp, [skip next ch-3-sp, 5 dc in next ch-sp] repeat between [ ] to end. Turn.
Row 38: With (G) ch 2, * skip next dc, sc in each of next 4 dc, ch 3, skip next dc; repeat from *. End with ch 2, sl st into the 3rd ch. Turn.
Row 39: With (B), ch 3, 2 dc in same ch-sp, * 5 dc in next ch-3-sp; repeat from *. End with 3 dc in last ch-2-sp. Turn.
Row 40: With (G) ch 2, sc in next dc, [skip next dc, ch 3, sc in each of next 3 dc, skip next dc] repeat between [ ] to center shell, ch 3, dc between next 2 shells, ch 3, [skip next dc, ch 3, sc in each of next 3 dc, skip next dc] repeat between [ ] to last ch 3. End with ch 3, sc in each of last 2 dc. Turn.
Row 41: With (C) work row 37. Turn.
Row 42: With (G) ch 2, sc in next dc, [skip next dc, ch 4, sc in each of next 3 dc, skip next dc] repeat between [ ] to center shell, ch 3, dc between next 2 shells, ch 3, [skip next dc, ch 4, sc in each of next 3 dc, skip next dc] repeat between [ ] to last ch 3. End with ch 1, dc in first ch. Turn.
Row 43: With (D) ch 3 (count as dc), 3 dc in same ch-sp, * 7 dc in next ch-4-sp; repeat from * to last ch-sp. 4 dc in last ch-sp. Turn.
Row 44: With (G) ch 1, sc in each of next 2 dc, * skip next 2 dc, ch 4, sc in each of next 5 dc; repeat from * to last shell. Ch 4, sc in each of next 3 dc. Turn.
Rows 45-46: Work rows 43 and 44 working row 43 once with (E) and once with (F). Do not turn at the end of row 46.

Start working around the shawl to cover all ends and finish the shawl.
Rnd 1: Attach (G), 3 sc in the side of each dc or ch 2, and sc in the side of each sc or ch 1 to the beginning ring, 5 sc, 3 sc in the side of each dc or ch 2, and sc in the side of each sc or ch 1 to the bottom edge, * ch-3-picot, sc in each of the next 2 dc; repeat from * to end, ch-3-picot. Fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in all ends. Block shawl to size.
