With MC, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Sc 6 in first ch, join with sl st in first sc. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc to end, join with sl st in first sc. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, *2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * to end, join with sl st in first sc. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, *2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc; rep from * to end, join with sl st in first sc. (24 sc)

Rnd 5: Ch 1, *2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc; rep from * to end, join with sl st in first sc. (30 sc)

Rnd 6: Ch 1, *2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc; rep from * to end, join with sl st in first sc. (36 scs)

Rnds 19-27: Rep Rnd 18.

Note: CC is a braided cord with pompoms spaced at regular intervals. For Pompom rnds, you’ll be crocheting over the cord, enclosing it within MC sc sts.

Rnd 28 (Pompom): Lay cord of CC on top of sts of previous rnd. With MC, working over CC cord and into sts of previous rnd, ch 1, sc in each st until you reach a pompom, *push pompom to RS and sc in next st behind pompom, continuing to work over CC cord sc in each st to next pompom; rep from * to end, join with sl st in first sc. Cut CC.

Rnd 29: Ch 1, sc in each st to end, join with sl st in first sc.

Rnds 30-35: Rep Rnds 28-29, 3 more times.

Rnds 36-38: Ch 1, sc in each st to end, join with sl st in first sc.

Rnd 39 (Handles): Ch 1, sc in first 4 sts, ch 20, sk next 18 sts, sc in next 30 sts, ch 20, sk next 18 sts, sc in each st to end, join with sl st in first sc.

Rnd 40: Ch 1, sc in first 4 sts, 20 sc in ch-20 sp, sc in next 20 sts, 20 sc in ch-20 sp, sc in each sts to end, join with sl st in first sc. (100 sc)

Rnd 41: Ch 1, sc in each st to end, join with sl st in first sc.

Fasten off.
