Starting at top of hat with A, ch 2.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook do not join. Work in a spiral, marking beginning of each round, moving marker up as work progresses. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 3: *Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around. (8 sc)
Rnd 4: *Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around. (10 sc)
Rnd 5: *Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around. (12 sc)
Rnd 6: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 7: *Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around. (15 sc)
Rnds 8-9: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 10: *Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around. (18 sc)

Rnd 45: Working this round in flps only, slip st in first sc, ch 3, dc in same st as joining, 2 dc in each sc around, join with slip st in top of beginning ch 3.
Rnd 46: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in each dc around. Fasten off.
Braids (Make Two)
Wrap grey around an 8” cardboard 65 times. Cut one end. Tie center of strands tightly together. Braid to desired length. Tie at the bottom of braid. Trim. Sew each side of hat just under brim.
