Pattern Notes

In Motif A, after making ch-5 at top of petal, work sl st in top of left-most dtr to center the ch-5, picking up any convenient strand.
In Motif B, rnd 3, when working into the base of chains, make sure to line up dc stitches with the 4th, 6th and 8th of the petal stitches – the base chain can be tricky to read. The dc sts should be symmetrical on right and left sides of each petal.
In last row of Motif B, the ch-5 points may appear to be slightly left of center. This will even out when joined and blocked.
Consult the photo to see how motifs are joined.
To connect any point on Motif A or B to another motif, work joining ch-5 as follows: ch 2, sl st to ch-5 on motif where you are joining, ch 2.
When joining Motifs, make sure they both have RS facing.
Motifs need to be wet blocked and pinned to lie flat. In this design, it’s easiest to block several at a time. After completing 7 Motifs A, block them. After working 7 Motifs B and 7 Star joins, block them; they will be attached to Motif A, but you can wet only Motif B and Star Joins. Then work the last Motifs A and B, and last Star Join, block them.

Pattern

Motif A

Make adjustable ring
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 23 dc in ring, sl st to top of ch 3. (24 dc)

Make 8 (9), always joining the last 2 ch-5 loops to 2 ch-5 loops at the side of previously made motif. The very last motif will be joined at both sides, so it connects with the first motif made.

Fasten off.
Make 8 (9), always joining at 4 points: 2 on Motif A above and 2 joins into the previously made Motif B at the side. The first Motif B will only be joined above. The last Motif B will be joined at 6 points, connecting at the side to the first motif B made. Do the last Motif B after working Joining Stars.

Finishing – Neck Edging

Motifs A have 2 petals extending up toward the neck. Join yarn in the 2nd of these 2 at any Motif A.

Can we see a photo of the scarf spread out? Also, a diagram would be nice.

      Hi Anne,

There is a closeup photo of the wrap, showing the points and how they are joined. Please let us know if you need some additional clarification and we’ll work on another photo.

      Thank you!
