Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: Each square measure 4” x 4”; finished measurement 12” x 12” (assembled)

Gauge: 16 sts and 8 rows = 4” [10 cm] in dc

Materials

Yarn:

Medium weight yarn Cascade Avalon (50% Cotton/50% Acrylic; 175 yards [160 meters]/100 grams): Color 33, 2 skeins

Hook: H/8 (5 mm)

Notions: Removable markers; tapestry needle; Everything Mary Leather Handles

Pattern Notes

All of the squares will be made individually and then sewn together to finish. The handles will be added last.

Weave in ends as pattern progresses.

Pattern

Square (make 13)

Ch 4, sl st to first ch to join.

Rnd 1: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), dc in ring, ch 3, *(dc, ch 1, dc), ch 3; rep from * twice more, sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-4 to join – 24 sts

Rnd 2: Ch 4, dc in the last ch-3 sp, *in next ch-3 sp (dc, ch 1, dc), ch 3, (dc, ch 3, dc); rep from * to last ch-3 sp (dc, ch 1, dc), ch 3, sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-4 to join – 36 sts.

Rnd 3: Ch 3, *dc in each st to corner, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in corner; rep from * around, sl st to the first ch-3 to join – 48 sts.

Fasten off.

Finishing

Assembly

Use the stitch markers to assemble the squares. The 3 squares with the line in the center are folded over to create the sides and bottom. Use tapestry needle to sew together.

Handles

Work 7 sc over the handle rings to secure in place in the top ch-3 sp of squares.

Flowers (make 4)

Rnd 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in the first ch, do not join.

Rnd 2: (Sl st, ch 1, dc, tr, dc, ch 1, sl st) in each st.

Fasten off.

Sew each flower on front 4 squares, leaving the center without a flower.
