Ocean Sunrise Throw

This beachy throw gets its airy texture from solid and openwork rows of double crochet ripple stitch. The striped pattern, worked in a dozen sea and sunrise colors, is framed in white double crochet with fun shell “tassels” on the short edges.

Gauge: 13 sts = 4” [10 cm] and 7 rows = 6” [15.25 cm] in pattern st

Medium weight yarnYarn: Bernat Super Value (100% acrylic; 426 yards [389 meters] / 198 grams): 1 ball each 3114 denim heather (A), 0616 peacock (B), 0610 royal blue (C), 3725 hot blue (D), 3730 cool blue (E), 8879 sky (F), 7445 yellow (G), 0608 bright yellow (H), 0615 carrot (I), 3402 magenta (J), 3317 lilac (K), 7773 light damson (L), 7391 white (M).

Hook/Needles: US size I/9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook

Notions: Tapestry needle

Abbreviations

Dc3tog: Double crochet 3 stitches together

Special Stitches

Shell: 5 dc in indicated stitch.

Tassel: Ch 9, shell in 4th ch from hook, ch 3, sl st in base of shell, ch 5.

Pattern Notes

Each ch-1 counts as 1 st.

Change color on last yarn over of last stitch of row as indicated.

When working the border on the long edges, adjust the number of stitches worked into the end of each row if necessary to prevent the edge from puckering or rippling.
