Hook: US size H/8 (5.0 mm) hook or size needed for gauge

Shell: 5 dcs in specified space or stitch.

Pattern Notes

Design is worked in multiples of 8 plus 2.

Pattern

Row 1: With A ch 138, sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 2, skip 2 chs, dc in next ch, 3 dcs in next ch, dc in next ch, skip 2 chs, sc in next ch, repeat from * across, turn.
Row 2: Ch 4, *dc in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc, V St in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, repeat from * across ending last repeat with ch 1, dc in last sc, turn.
Row 3: Ch 3, 2 dcs in next ch 1 space, ch 2, *sc in ch 1 space of V St, ch 2**, Shell in next ch 2 space, ch 2, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, 2 dcs in next ch 4 space, dc in 3rd ch of turning ch 4, turn.
Row 4: Ch 3, dc in first dc, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc, *ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc**, V St in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, dc in next dc, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, 2 dcs in 3rd ch of turning ch 3, fasten off and turn.

Edging

Rnd 1: With B, work Shell in right corner side dc space, work along top edge, ch 2, sc in next ch 1 space, [ch 2, Shell in next ch 2 space, ch 2, sc in ch 1 space of V St] across ending ch 2, Shell in corner side dc space.
Work along side edge [ch 1, sc in next side dc space, ch 1, Shell in next side dc space] across ending ch 1, Shell in last side dc space.
Work along bottom edge [ch 2, sc in ch below center dc of 5 dcs, ch 2, Shell in ch below sc] across ending ch 2, Shell in side dc space.
Work along side edge as for opposite side edge, join to beginning Shell and fasten off.
Rnd 2: With B, work along top edge (sc, ch 3, sc) in first sc, [(ch 4, (dc, ch 2, dc) in center dc of Shell, ch 4, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next sc] across ending ch 4, (dc, ch 2, dc) in center dc of corner Shell.
