This Valentine’s Day, make your own cards to give to your loved ones! These handmade crochet cards are prettier than anything you’ll find at the store with their delicate yarn edging, and are so easy to make.

Materials
Yarn: Schachenmayr Catania (100% cotton; yards [125 meters]/50 grams): #00115 Red (A, less than 1 skein), #00106 White (B, less than 1 skein)
Hook: US size E/4 (3.5 mm) hook and US size G/6 (4.0 mm) hook
Notions: Markers, tapestry needle
Pattern Notes
Use a pencil to mark holes around the edge of your card; try to evenly space them apart. I marked every 1 cm. Use a sharp sewing needle or a hole puncher to pierce the holes.
Pattern
White Card (Scallop Edging)
Using Yarn A and 3.5 mm (US E/4) hook,
Rnd 1: Start with a sl st in one hole, than make 3 or 4 ch sts (depends on the space between the two holes), then 1 sl st in the next hole. Repeat this until you reach the hole in the corner. Make 1 sl st, 4 ch sts, and 1 sl st in the same corner hole.
Crochet this way around the edge of the card.
Rnd 2: Work, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 1 sl st in each chain space across.
Fasten off.
Small Heart
Using Yarn A and 3.5 mm (US E/4) hook, work all stitches in same space.
Ch 4, 3 tr in 1st ch (last from hook), ch 1, 3 dc in same space, ch 1, 1 tr, 1 ch, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 tr, ch 3, sl st.
Fasten off.
Big Heart
Repeat all the steps as for small heart but use 4mm (US G/6) crochet hook.
Glue the two hearts on the card.
Polka Dot Card (Simple Edging)
Using Yarn B and 3.5 mm (US E/4) hook,
Rnd 1: Start with a sl st in one hole, than make 3 or 4 ch sts (depends on the space between the two holes), then 1 sl st in the next hole. Repeat this until you reach the edge of the card.
Rnd 2: Work, 7 sc, 1 sl st in each chain space across.
Fasten off.
Taking some white yarn write the word love and glue it on the card.
Heart Polka Dot Card (Picot Edging)
Cut out a heart shape using the attached sketch.
Using Yarn A and 3.5 mm (US E/4) hook,
Rnd 1: Start with a sl st in one hole, than make 3 or 4 ch sts (depends on the space between the two holes), then 1 sl st in the next hole. Repeat this until you reach the edge of the card.
Rnd 2: Work, 2 sc, 4 sc, picot, 2 sc in each chain space across.
Fasten off.
