Gauge: 16 sts and 9 rows = 4” [10 cm]

Materials

Medium weight yarnYarn: Berroco Modern Cotton Worsted (60% Pima Cotton, 40% Modal Rayon; 209 yards [191 meters]/100 grams): 1624 green (MC, 1 hank), 1621 blue (CA, 1 hank), 1631 periwinkle (CB, 1 hank).

Hook: US size G/6 (4 mm)

Notions: Tapestry needle

Pattern Notes

Chain 2 at the beginning of the row counts as first dc.

Carry the yarn loosely up the side when not in use.

Pattern

With CA, ch 27.

Row 1 (RS): Dc in the 4th ch from hook and in next 3 ch, (dc2tog) twice, dc in next 3 ch, (2 dc in next ch) twice, dc in next 3 ch, (dc2tog) twice, dc in next 3 ch, 2 dc in last ch, changing to MC in last dc, turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, working in back loops only, dc in same st and in next 3 sts, (dc2tog) twice, dc in next 3 sts, (2 dc in next st) twice, dc in next 3 dc, (dc2tog) twice, dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in last st, changing to CB in the last dc, turn.

Row 3: With CB, rep Row 2.

Row 4: With CA, rep Row 2.

Row 5: With MC, rep Row 2. Fasten off.

Edging

Rnd 1: Join new MC with sc in side of Row 1, working up the side, place 2 sc in side of each row (10 sc), rotate to work across the top of Row 5, (using both loops) 2 sc in first st, sc in each of next 4 sts, sc2tog twice (using 4 sts), sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog twice (using 4 sts), sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in final st, rotate to work down the side, placing 2 sc in the side of each row (10 sc), rotate and work along the underside of Row 1, working 1 sc in next 24 sts, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Strap

With MC, ch 14.

Row 1 (RS): Dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 11 sts. (12 dc)

Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first dc, yes ch 2, not 3), working in back loop only, dc in each st across. (12 dc)

Rows 3-36: Rep Row 2. Fasten off.

Note: Work more or less rows for the proper fit. When added to the Eye Mask portion, add the strap so that it is 0.5-1” smaller than the desired total diameter for the best fit.

Assembly

With tapestry needle and MC, sew Strap onto either side of the Eye Mask.

Edging

Join MC, (sc, ch 1, sc) in side of each dc of Strap row, on Eye Mask body, *(sc, ch 1, sc), sk 1 st; rep from * around

Finishing

Weave in ends.
