Gauge: 10 sts and 14 rows = 4” [10 cm] in suzette stitch

Light weight yarnYarn: Scheepjes Color Crafter (100% Premium Acrylic; 328 yards [100 meters]/100 grams): Red, 1010 (MC (1) ball), White, 1001 (CC1 (1) ball)

Hook: US6 [4 mm] crochet hook

Notions: Removable marker to mark beg of round, tapestry needle

Special Stitches

Suzette stitch: (sc, dc) in same st, sk next st

Pattern Notes

The piece is worked bottom up.

First the toe is worked in the round without joining, next the foot is worked using suzette stitch in turned rows, changing colors every 2 rounds. Next heel is worked in turned rows. Leg is worked in suzette stitch and turned rows, changing colors every 2 rounds. Cuff is worked in the round without joining.

Ch 1 counts as stitch unless otherwise noted.

Pattern

Toe

With MC, work magic ring.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in Magic Ring. (6 sts)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12 sts)

Rnd 3: *sc 1, 2 sc in next st* rep from * to * around (18 sts)

Rnd 4: *sc 2, 2 sc in next st * rep from * to * around (24 sts)

Rnd 5: *sc 3, 2 sc in next st * rep from * to * around (30 sts)

Rnd 6: *sc 4, 2 sc in next st * rep from * to * around (36 sts)

Rnd 7: *sc 5, 2 sc in next st * rep from * to * around (42 sts)

Rnd 8: *sc 6, 2 sc in next st * rep from * to * around (48 sts)

Foot

With CC1,

Rnd 1: Ch 1 (counts as st throughout foot), dc in same st as ch 1, sk next st, *[sc, dc] in next sc, sk next st, rep from * to end, sk last st, sl st to beginning dc, turn. (54 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, dc in same st as ch 1, sk next dc, *[sc, dc] in next sc, sk next dc, rep from * to end, sk last st, sl st to dc, turn. (54 sts)

Change to MC (change colors every 2 rounds)

Rnds 3-4: Rep R2. (54 sts)

Rnds 5-18: Rep Row 2, ending last row with CC1. (54 sts)

Fasten off.

Heel

With MC,

R1: Ch 1 (does not count as a st throughout heel), turn, sc in same st as ch 1, sc in next 26 sts, turn. (27 sts)

R2: Ch 1, sc in each to last sc, sl st in last sc, turn. (26 sts)

R3-R12: Rep R2. (16 sts)

Leg

With MC,

Attach yarn to middle st of heel (8th st), turn.

Rnd 1

Next Round (Rnd1)

Starting at last row of heel: Ch 1 (counts as a st throughout leg section), dc in same st as ch 1, sk next sc, *[sc, dc] in next sc, sk next sc*, rep from * to * once, [sc2tog, dc] in last st (sc2tog is worked in previous and last st to work decrease and dc is worked in last st).

Across side of heel flap: [sc, dc] in next st, sk next st*, rep from * to * twice, distributing [sc, dc] sts evenly around side of heel

Across instep: [sc, dc] in first st of bottom part, sk next sc, *[sc, dc] in next st, sk next sc *, rep from * to * 12 more times,

Across side of heel flap: distribute [sc, dc] sk next st, evenly around side of heel 3 times, sk corner st

Across last row of heel: [sc2tog, dc] in next st, sk next st, *[sc, dc] in next st, sk next st*, rep from * to * once more, sl st to dc. (54 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 1 dc in same st as ch-1, sk next dc, *[sc, dc] in next sc, sk next dc, rep from * to end, sk last st, sl st to dc, turn. (54 sts)

Cuff

Change to CC1

Use a stitch marker to mark beginning of rounds. Work in spiral, do not join rounds.

Rnd 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a st throughout cuff), sc in each stitch around. (54 sts)

Rnd 2: Sc in each sc around. (54 sts)

Rnd 3-23: Rep Rnd 2. (54 sts)

Fasten off.

Assembly

Make a loop the length you desire with ch sts to hang stocking.

Weave in all ends.
