Hook: US size D/3 (3.25 mm)

Picot: Ch 3, sl st into first ch from hook.
2 dc cl: Yo, insert hook in st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 lps, yo, insert hook in same st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 lps, yo, pull through 3 lps on hook.

Motif (make 10)
Ch 5, sl st into first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 15 dc into ring, join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off and change color. (16 dc)
Rnd 2: Join new color in any st, ch 2, dc in same st (counts as 2 dc cl), 2 dc cl in next st, ch 5, *(2 dc cl in next st) twice, ch 5; rep from * 6 more times, join with sl st to top of beg 2 dc cl. Fasten off and change color. (8 petals, 8 ch-5 sp)
Rnd 3: Join new color in any ch-5 sp with sl st, ch 1, (sc, hdc, 2 dc, picot, 2 dc, hdc, sc) in same sp, *(sc, hdc, 2 dc, picot, 2 dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-5 sp; rep from * 6 more times, join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off. (8 petals)
Finishing
Weave in all ends.
Block motifs gently with a steam iron.
Join Motifs
Using any yarn color, ch 20, sl st into first ch to form hanging loop, ch 15, holding first motif with RS in front, *sc in top of any picot, ch 20, taking next motif; rep from * until all 10 motifs are attached.
Ch 35, sl st back into 20th ch from hook to form 2nd hanging loop.
Fasten off. Weave in all ends.
Mini Tassels (make 10)
In any contrast colors of your choice, use a notebook approx. 3” in width, cut a 12” length of yarn and lay across top of book – this will be used to tie top of tassel.
Wrap yarn around book approx. 5-6 times.
Using the 12” tie, knot top of tassel tightly. Cut tassel at opposite end.
Cut another length of yarn and wrap around tassel 0.5” from top 3 times and knot ends together.
Trim if needed and attach to picot at tip of motif, sewing securely.
Now retired, and will be picking up my “crotchet-hook” … my first project will be to create these gorgeous Xmas-Baubles for each if my cherished Grandies … this is my way of “giving the gift that keeps on giving” … ????????????????????????????????
