Pattern Notes
The basket is made from the base to the top.
When working the Side, colors B and C will be carried within the stitch. To accomplish this, you will crochet over the 2 strands, working ‘over’ them or ‘carrying’ them to provide thickness and color.
Pattern
Base (make 1 with A and 1 with B)
Rnd 1: Ch 4, 10 dc in the first chain, sl st to first st to join – 10 sts.
Rnd 2: Ch 2 (does not count as a st here and throughout), 2 dc in each st around, sl st to first st to join – 20 sts.
Rnd 3: Ch 2, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st; rep from * around, sl st to first st to join – 30 sts.
Rnd 4: Ch 2, *dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st; rep from * around, sl st to first st to join – 40 sts.
Rnd 5: Ch 2, *dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st; rep from * around, sl st to first st to join – 50 sts.
Rnd 6: Ch 2, *dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st; rep from * around, sl st to first st to join – 60 sts.
Rnd 7: Ch 2, *dc in next 5 sts, 2 dc in next st; rep from * around, sl st to first st to join – 70 sts.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
With WS facing, sew the 2 bases together.
Side
Join A in any stitch, join B and C and carry within the stitch throughout the pattern. Do not pull tight. This will allow the color to peek through and will create a unique color pattern.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, working in blo, sc in each st around, sl st to first st to join.
Rnds 2-9: Ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to first st to join.
Rnd 10: Ch 1, *sc 8, sc2tog; rep from * around, sl st to first st to join.
Rnd 11: With all three strands held together, ch 1, sc in each st, sl st to first st to join.
Strap
Row 1: Working right into the Side, ch 1, sc 6.
Rows 2-48: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail of each color.
Sew strap to opposite side of Basket.
Flowers
Top
With B, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 8 sc in first chain.
Rnd 2: (Sl st, ch 1, dc, tr, dc, ch 1, sl st) in each st, sl st to first st of rnd to join – 8 petals.
Back
Rnd 1: Ch 4, 10 dc in first chain.
Rnd 2: (Sl st, ch 1, dc, tr, dc, ch 1, sl st) in each st, sl st to the first st of rnd to join – 10 petals.
Finishing
Sew the Flowers together and attach to Basket.
