Row 1: Ch 1, *sc blo in next st; rep from * to end of row, turn.
Rep Row 1 for patt.
Stitch Pattern
Row 1: Ch 1, hdc in each st to end of row, turn.
Rows 2-4: Rep Row 1.
Row 5: Ch 1, * hdc in next 4 sts, ch 2, sk next 2; rep from * across to last 6 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, turn.
Row 6: Ch 1, hdc in each hdc and 2 hdc in each ch-2 sp across to end of row, turn – 36 (42) sts.
Rep Rows 1-6 for patt.

Fingerless Mitts are worked flat from the cuff up, then seamed, leaving an opening for thumb.

Ch 15.
Set-up Row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn – 14 sts.
Work in Rib patt until piece meas 6½ (7½)” unstretched from beg ch. Do not turn at end of last row.
Hand
Set-up Row: Work 36 (42) sc evenly in end of each row across.
Work Rows 1-6 of Stitch Pattern 3 times.
Fasten off.
Finishing
Block as desire.
Sew side seam, leaving an opening for thumb.
Weave in all ends.
If you start with 14 stitches, how do you work rows #5 and 6 to add up to 42 stitches?
How many chain stitches to start?
Linda, If you look at the instructions and go down to where it says pattern, it says to Ch 15.
