    Dear Melinda,
I am glad you chose my pattern :). Here my answers:
Sleeves part 2: after making 54 sc you turn and therefore there is a decrease of 4 sts at the end of the row. (a total of 54 sc, not counting the initial sl sls and the ch1)
The initial 4 sl st and these last 4 sts not worked make the armhole shape.

Shoulder shaping: since you work until the last st (and not until end), you decrease 1 st from your previous row (in your case the 54 sts from the armhole section-1=53 sts). Regarding Row 2, you are right and the final number of sts should show 2 decreases (the first slst and the last st not worked). In your case you should end with 42 sts. I will fix it asap.
    Thanks for your comments!

Hi Cristina – thanks for the response but I still have an issue – it sounds like the 4 sl st and then 4 not worked at end of row means that you are up near the underarm to start the armhole shape; unfortunately, for me, I am only up to the elbow after finishing part 1 – I know the yarn works for sizing because the body worked out just fine so it isn’t a yarn issue; and I have gone back through part 1 and it looks like I did the required # of rows so I can’t figure out why it is short; part 2 looks like I am doing another total of 32 rows which would bring me up too the underarm but I would have a long section that is open ?? (the 32 comes from rows 5-8 (4 rows) times 8 = 32 rows (same as part 1) – do you have any idea what I may have missed?
      thanks

I have a question on the sleeves – part 2: we finish part 1 with 62 stitches (I am doing the large size); part 2 says to slip 4 stitches then crochet 54 but 62 – 4 = 58 stitches – what happened to the other 4 stitches? also, what do we do over the slip stitches?
then for the shoulder shaping row 1 ends with 53 stitches and I don’t know where the 53 comes from; and then row 2 decreases a stitch at the beginning and end of the row but we end up with 52 stitches – what am I missing?
    thanks
