This is wonderful table runner worked in a lacy granny squares pattern. The center part of the squares is worked in two different buttermint colors and each square is finished and joined with white thread.

Gauge: 1 motif = 3″ square after wet blocking.

Aunt Lydia’s Crochet Thread, Classic 10, (100% Mercerized Cotton; 350 yards [320 meters]/50 grams): #154_1 White (MC), 2 balls; #0428 Mint Green (CC1), 1 ball; #0493 French Rose (CC2), 1 ball
Hook: Steel crochet hook size 7 (1.5 mm)

Pattern
With CC1 or CC2, ch 10, sl st into the first ch to make a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 16 sc in ring, sl st into the first ch.
Rnd 2: Ch 9 (counts as dc, ch 6), *skip next sc, dc in next sc, ch 6; repeat from * around, ending with sl st into the 3rd ch – 8 dc.
Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 4 dc in same ch-sp, *ch 5, 5 dc in next ch-6 sp; repeat from * around, ending with ch 5, sl st into the 3rd ch. Fasten off.
Rnd 4: With MC, ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in first ch-5 sp, ch 5, 3 dc in first ch-5 sp, *ch 3, sc in 3rd dc in round below, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-5 sp, ch 3, sc in 3rd dc in round below, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 5, 3 dc) in next ch-5 sp; repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, sc in 3rd dc in round below, ch 3, sl st into the 3rd ch. Fasten off.
Motif 2 and all the rest of the motifs
Work Rnds 1-3 same as motif 1.
Rnd 4: With MC, ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in first ch-5 sp, ch 2, sl st in the corresponding ch-5 sp, ch 2, 3 dc in first ch-5 sp, *ch 3, sc in 3rd dc in round below, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 1, sl st in the corresponding ch-3 sp, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-5 sp, ch 3, sc in 3rd dc in round below, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 5, 3 dc) in next ch-5 sp; repeat from * as long as necessary otherwise follow instructions for Rnd 4 of first motif, ending with ch 3, sc in 3rd dc in round below, ch 3, sl st into the 3rd ch. Fasten off.
Finishing
Join the motifs as shown in the diagram below.
Weave in all ends. Block runner to size.
