Using tail, thread needle through back loops of rem 4 sts. Pull tight to close.

Weave in ends.

Stretch cap over cardboard cone. You can either spray this piece with starch to stiffen and remove the cone or you can leave the code in for stability.

Pom Pom

Cut a slit in the cardboard square at the center of one side, 2/3 of the way across.

Alternating C1 and C2, wrap yarn around the cardboard, perpendicular to the slit, leaving the center exposed.

Wrap each color 20 times.

Use a scrap strand and thread it through the opening at the center of the square and around yarn. Pull tightly and tie off.

Cut wrapped yarn at outside edges of cardboard square.

Trim pom pom as needed. It needs to be long and floppy.

Use the tail that fastens off the pom pom to sew to the top of the tree.
