Luxe Lace Holiday Top

Bring a little sparkle to your next holiday party with this festive piece. This elegant, long-sleeved top buttons in the back for extra interest, while a doubled cuff adds dramatic flair.

Lace Weight Yarn Nazli Gelin Garden Metallic (99% Egyptian giza mercerized cotton, 1% metallic; 306 yards [280 meters]/50 grams): #702-30 Navy with Silver Metallic (6 (7, 8, 9, 10) balls)
Hook: US size 8 (1.5 mm) steel hook, US size 10 (1.3 mm) steel hook
Notions: Tapestry needle, 10 (10, 10, 10, 11) 5/8” buttons

With smaller hook, join yarn with sl st to beg-ch edge.
Row 1: Ch 1, work 2 sc along side of each dc row and 1 sc along beg sc row, turn. (155 (159, 163, 167, 171) sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, hdc in each st across, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, hdc in first 6 (10, 5, 9, 6) sts, * ch 2, sk next 2 sts, hdc in next 14 (14, 15, 15, 14) sts; rep from * 8 (8, 8, 8, 9) more times, ch 2, sk next 2 sts, hdc in last 3 sts, turn. (10 (10, 10, 10, 11) buttonholes)

Sleeves

With larger hook, ch 69 (75, 75, 81, 81) firmly. Work Set-up Row 1 of Mesh patt – 22 (24, 24, 26, 26) picots, 23 (25, 25, 27, 27) ch-2 sps. Rep Rows 1 & 2 of patt, 2 times.

Increase Section

Using chart as a guide, work an Inc row every 6 (6, 4, 4) RS rows, 2 (2, 3, 3, 9) times, then every 8 (8, 6, 6, 6) RS rows, 4 (4, 5, 5, 1) time(s) – 34 (36, 40, 42, 46) picots on last WS row worked. Work even in patt until Sleeve meas 16” from beg, ending with RS row 1.

Raglan Shaping

Row 1 (WS): Ch 1, sl st in first 3 (3, 6, 6, 9) sts, work in patt to last 3 (3, 6, 6, 9) sts, turn. (32 (34, 36, 38, 40) ch-2 sps/reps rem)
Using chart as a guide, work a Dec row every RS row, 11 (12, 13, 14, 15) times. (10 reps rem) (One rep is dec’d each side on a Dec row). End with a RS Dec row, fasten off.

Lower Cuff

With larger hook and RS facing, with beg-ch edge facing away from you, attach yarn with sl st to first skipped ch-2 sp along beg-ch edge on RH side of piece.
Set-up row: Working along beg-ch edge, sc in same sp, * 9 dc in next ch-2 sp, sc in next ch-2 sp; rep from * across – 11 (12, 12, 13, 13) 9-dc shells. Rep Rows 1-4 of Cuff Shells patt, 2 times.
Next row (WS): Ch 1, sc in same sc, * sc in next 9 dc, sc in next sc, picot; rep from *, end sc in last sc. Fasten off. 

Upper Cuff

With larger hook and RS facing, with beg-ch edge facing away from you, attach yarn with sl st to first dc on LH side on Row 1 of Sleeve.
Set-up row 1 (RS): Working from left to right, * ch 2, sc around post of next dc; rep from * across ending sc around second dc in from RH side. (23 (25, 25, 27, 27) ch-2 sps)
Set-up row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 4 dc in ch-2 sp, * sc in next ch-2 sp, 9 dc in next ch-2 sp; rep from * across, ending 4 dc in last ch-2 sp, dc in last sc, turn. (10 (11, 11, 12, 12) 9-dc shells, 2 5-dc shells) Work Rows 3-4 of Cuff Shells patt, then rep Rows 1-4 of Cuff Shells patt, 1 time.
Next row (WS): Ch 1, sc in same sc, * sc in next 9 dc, sc in next sc, picot; rep from *, end sc in last sc. Fasten off.

Finishing

Block pieces to finished measurements. Sew raglan seams. Sew Sleeve and side seams. Work 1 row of hdc evenly around neck edge using smaller hook. Sew buttons to buttonband opposite buttonholes. Weave in ends.
