Gauge: Gauge is not necessary for this project.

Materials

Yarn: Patons Classic Wool Worsted (100% wool; 210 yards [192 meters]/100 grams): Dark Grey Mix (MC, 2 balls), Peacock (CC1, 1 ball), Grey Mix (CC2, 2 balls) – this is enough yarn for the entire three-piece set
Hook: US size H/8 (5.0 mm) hook

Pattern Notes

Carry all unused yarn up the side of the scarf. As the scarf will be edged, no need to cut or hide the extra yarn since it will be covered.

Pattern

Using MC, ch 20, 1 sc into sec chain from hook, 1 sc into each ch to end.
Row 1: Ch 1, 1 sc into first sc, *1 hdc into next sc, 1 dc into next sc, 3 tr into next sc, 1 dc into next sc, 1 hdc into next sc, 1 sc into next sc; rep from * to end.
Row 2: Join CC1, ch 1, sc2tog worked into 1st sc and hdc, *1 sc into each of next dc and tr, 3 sc into next tr, 1 sc into each of next tr and dc, sc3tog worked over next hdc and sc and hdc; rep from * to end, ending with sc2tog worked over last hdc and sc.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc2tog worked over first sc2tog and next sc, *1 sc into each of next 2 sc, 3 sc into next sc, 1 sc into each of next 2 sc, sc3tog worked over next sc and sc3tog and sc; rep from * to end, ending with sc2tog worked over last sc and sc2tog.
Row 4: With MC, ch 4, tr2tog worked over first sc2tog and next sc, *1 dc into next sc, 1 hdc into next sc, 1 sc into next sc, 1 hdc into next sc, 1 dc into next sc, tr3tog worked over next sc and sc3tog and sc; rep from * to end, ending with tr3tog worked over last sc and sc2tog.
Row 5: With CC2 repeat row 1.
Rows 6-7: Repeat rows 2-3.
Row 8: With CC1 repeat row 4.
Repeat rows 1-8 thirteen times more (or until it is 2 inches from desired length).
Repeat rows 1-4 once more.

Edging

Continuing with MC, ch 1 sc across length of scarf. At corner, 3 sc in 1 st and then sc in each st across width, 3 sc in 1 st at corner, sc across length of scarf, 3 sc in 1 st at corner, sc across width and 2 sc in corner, join to beginning ch 1 and fasten off.

Fringe

Cut 28 nine-inch strands of each color yarn (84 strands total). Gather two strands of each color, fold in half, forming a loop at one end. Using a crochet hook, draw the loop through the stitch you’re attaching the fringe to (for this scarf you will be placing fringe evenly across the width in 7 places). Draw the loose ends of the yarn through the loop and pull tightly. Repeat until there are 7 groups of fringe at the beginning and the end of the scarf. Trim with scissors.
