Pattern
Variation One (Solid with Solid Border)
With C1, ch 28.
Row 1: Skip 1st 2 chs, sc into each ch across the row. Turn. (27 sts)
Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as 1st tc), skip 1st sc, 1 tc into each of next 5 sts, 1 htc into each of next 5 sts, 1 dc into each of next 5 sts, 1 hdc into each of next 5 sts, 1 sc into each of next 6 sts. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1 (counts as 1st sc), skip 1st sc, 1 sc into the back loop of each st across the row. Turn.
Row 4: Ch 1 (counts as 1st sc), skip 1st sc, 1 sc into each of next 5 sts, 1 hdc into each of next 5 sts, 1 dc into each of next 5 sts, 1 htc into each of next 5 sts, 1 tc into each of next 6 sts. Turn.
Row 5: Repeat Row 3.
Repeat Rows 2 through 5 three times more.
Border: Work 1 sc into each st across top; work 2 sts into corner. Left side — Work 4 sc around each tc and 3 sc into sts between tc; work 2 sts into corner. Work 1 sc into each st across bottom; work 2 sts into corner. Work right side as for left side. After working 2 sc into last corner, join with a sl st to first sc in border round. Break yarn and weave in ends.
Variation Two (Variegated with Solid Border)
Work as for Variation One using C2. Break yarn before Border; join C1 by working first sc of border with C1. Finish Border as directed.
Variation Three (Variegated and Solid Mix)
Begin as for Variation One, using C1.
Row 4: Join C2 by working first ch of row with C2. Do not cut C1. Complete Rows 4 and 5 with C2. Drop C2 and pick up C1. Do not cut C2. Work remaining three repeats of pattern by using C1 for Rows 2 and 3 and C2 for Rows 4 and 5. Work the border with C1; on the right side edge, work the sc around both the tc and the yarn floats.
